August 6th, puppies are born at 3 in the morning!

Jetta went into labor early this morning. We headed to the vet in Orem but we didn't even make it to Lehi before I had two puppies in my back seat. By the time we got to Lehi I had a third. The first puppy was dead when it was born and it had a cleft pallet so it was for the better. The second and third puppy are healthy, fat, and happy. When we got to the vet Dr. Pew couldn't find a heart beat on the ultrasound and Jetta was still struggling to get the fourth puppy out. He gave her some oxytocin and within 20 minutes that puppy was born. It wasn't breathing so Dr. Pew tried to warm it up and get it's heart going, he looked in it's mouth and it also had cleft pallet so we let him go. Jetta had 4 baby boys, all cuter than cute, 2 survived. She is mothering them and feeding them and being a good little mom. I'm sad to lose two but I am happy to have two!

The vet said that Rudy and Jetta shouldn't be bred together a second time because they aren't working well together. So when Jetta has her second heat after her pregnancy we will breed her to a different dog of Shar's and see what we can get from that litter, then I think I will be done with the bulldog breeding, it's hard on me and I know it's hard on Jetta.

Jetta is doing alright so far

So we have 5 more days until Jetta's scheduled c-section is here. She is fat, tired, miserable, and can't eat too much. She had an x-ray last week and we saw the skeleton's of the babies. There were definitely 4 but the vet said she may have 1 hiding but definitely 4. I am excited and scared for my poor dog. I have come to the conclusion I can only breed her one more time and then get her spayed because I know this is rough on her and it's definitely rough on me.

I saw some bulldog puppies at the vet and they are so stinkin cute. I don't know how I am going to be able to get rid of them when they are ready to go. I want to keep them all!!!

JETTA IS PREGNANT!!!

We had our ultrasound today and Dr. Pew could see 4 embryo's for sure. So we are for sure having 4 puppies!!! She is due between the 3rd and 7th of August and we have an x ray on the 29th of July to confirm how many pup's are really there. Jetta is coming along fine, she is still happy and energetic. Now we just have to wait for D-Day!

Jetta has been bred!

I picked Jetta up this morning from the vet and she has been bred successfully as far as we can tell. She has an ultrasound in July to see if she is pregnant. Till then....

Jetta is ready!

Tomorrow is Jetta's big day! She is finally ready to breed. We are meeting Shar at the vet at 8 a.m. and Jetta will be there until Tuesday. I'm not sure how long until we will know if she is pregnant, probably a couple weeks. She will get an x-ray so we will know how many puppies she's going to have. I can't wait! I'm so excited to have a puppy around again and I'm hoping mother hood will calm Jetta down a bit.

Jetta's back in heat!

So I came home from North Dakota not only to a disaster house full of water but with a nasty cold and a dog in heat! Jetta is on day 6 or 7 of her cycle. She has been to the vet once and I was told she is still pretty early. She has another appointment tomorrow for another cytology test and possible progesterone test. This time I am sure she is in heat because she has broken out all over her chin, she actually got swollen in her girl region, and she is bleeding pretty heavy and steady. Last time she bled really light and was acting normal and then stopped bleeding after 3 days. I cannot wait to breed her and get some gorgeous little puppies here to see! Hopefully tomorrow's appointment I will be told she is close to being able to breed. The vet told me maybe 12 days till she gets surgically inseminated so we will be crossing out fingers!

Jetta's Current Status

So, Jetta has finally come into her third heat. We have decided to breed her on this heat. We took her to her vet appointment they swabbed her and did some lab work on her vaginal secretions. Everything looked good so we went back a few days later and to our dismay she had come out of heat. The vet said her heats could be split and she will begin to bleed in a couple of weeks. Well, it has been a couple of weeks and she has not bled. So, this go round we won't be breeding our little Jetster. Maybe next time in eight or nine more months we can try again.

Till then....

We are planning on purchasing another bulldog puppy when they are born in a couple of months. We are going to get a male. The male is coming from the grandfather of the stud we were going to breed Jetta to. He is a good looking dog so I cannot wait to get a puppy from Shar!
